Does admittedly feel like a bit of a rehash of the original, especially in the first half, with CGI that doesn’t quite outshine the original’s practical effects. However, that doesn't mean at 86 years old, Ridley Scott hasn't managed to deliver something ultra-entertaining that in my opinion, doesn’t disappoint.
The action sequences are consistently IMMENSE, the story is still compelling and even when the film stumbles at times or delivers a somewhat lukewarm climax, Denzel’s ever-magnetic presence, Scott's skilful direction and Mescals impressive leading man performance keep it engaging.
While it doesn’t fully live up to the original’s legacy (was it ever going to?) I still personally think it's a damn-good time and worthy addition to Ridley Scott’s filmography that if possible, you should try and watch on the biggest screen possible.
