    I’ve lived in New York City my whole life. I regard it as the best city in the world. To ring in the new year just this week: Multiple stabbings on the subway, a man pushed into the tracks, and a shooting at a nightclub that wounded 10. Yet none of that changes my opinion on this city—but it does make me question whether I have become a product of the metropolitan apathy Somerset warns of.

    I’m so beyond grateful that this is the first movie I saw on America’s biggest IMAX screen. A screen of that magnitude deserves a film that is just as imaginative and substantial as Interstellar. But the fact that the emotional core of this movie is so sharp—it strikes me even more than the imagery. That is a testament to how brilliant this movie is.
