Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger 2024
I don’t know how someone can listen to Martin Scorsese talk about films and then not love those films themselves. His film history docs are always great but I loved how personal this one was as it was isolated to just the films of one directing duo. I don’t normally rate docs but I can’t not give this 5 stars

The Unknown 1927
Top tier silent film performances, especially from Lon Chaney who has unfortunately become a mostly forgotten name despite being a pioneering talent which matches the best performers of any era. Joan Crawford also does a great job in this very early role for her.

Poor Things 2023
Bizarro fantasy feminist coming of age. I loved the world they made, especially early on. Delightfully weird, thematically a little typical.

Anatomy of a Fall 2023

Shortcomings 2023
I really enjoyed hating the main character in this movie. Loved the NYC and Bay Area settings, and ofc always love a local cinema setting too. I might end up borrowing the graphic novel from the library. Randall Park chose a great cast and directed the movie super well!
