Easily the worst Gamera movie. I havent seen Gamera the Brave but it's gotta be better. This is like 10% original movie, 90% scenes from all the past movies and all the new footage is either incredibly boring dialogue scenes or some of the worst looking effects shots ever. This is also for some reason the longest of the Showa era films. Awful! Glad I'll get to wash my palette with Kaneko's incredible trilogy next.

Priscilla 2023
Priscilla truly de-romanticized not only a star in music, but also once more the imagery that came on screen. Whenever it comes to showcasing a couple in a dramatic and depressing manner, some may not understand what effect the imagery has and who may see it otherwise. But in the case of Priscilla, I truly felt no goodness nor hope in their story. The choices in soundtrack describing the era and emotion, as well as gorgeous cinematography that highlights but…

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 2011
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is certainly a dense film. Dense in its themes, and dense in its narrative. David Fincher is able to juggle these heavy weighted aspects fairly well I thought. Once again I think that David Fincher continues to show off his skills as a filmmaker and this marks another great addition to his film catalogue.

Paint 2023
Probably the most disappointing movie I've seen in years. It's like an SNL sketch where Owen Wilson plays Bob Ross (and not well at all) stretched to 90 minutes. The production value is so low, I've seen school plays put more care and thought into set design. (When there is a set and not just green screen.) The writing is so bad it makes the aforementioned SNL look like ZAZ by comparison. They added a bunch of these weird asshole…

Memoir of a Snail 2024
Adam Elliot’s deadpan brand of tragicomedy has never really bowled me over like it does for so many others. But I really admire the sincerity and uniqueness of his work, and while this definitely isn’t a favourite of the year for me, I did find myself getting pretty wrapped up in this as it crawled along, particularly all of Gilbert’s sections. Especially since the start felt a little too similar to Mary and Max, but it very much becomes its own thing.
Hope it gets a nomination over Moana 2 or whatever half baked ass Disney sharted out this year.

2025 Criterion Challenge: Noir and Neonoir (2/52)
BE GAY DO CRIMES! Corky is literally my perfect woman. (I have to rewatch Showgirls for more sapphic Gina Gershon.) I think I need to get more neonoir in my life, because this genre is introducing bangers after bangers to me. This is definitely the wackiest, best performance of Joe Pantoliano for me. -
Reprisal 2018
Okay owned film list, land on something good for me to watch
[Lands on Reprisal]
Fuck!
I knew I was going to have to come to grips with one of the most notorious of Bruce Willis's fading career films, and man was this a rough one to sit through. Knowing Bruce Willis's fading mental state in context with this film makes it all the more sad.
Reprisal stars Frank Grillo as a bank manager struggling financially to support his family,…

The Human Condition II: Road to Eternity 1959
What I love from the two Human Condition films I've seen so far is the unflinching punishment it gives to the ideologues. Too often we see idealistic films set up an argument for itself in perfect conditions to make a layup for you to agree with the point. Here, Kaji is given an easy way out at every step of the way if he gives in to the military's way. He doesn't, and is never vindicated. Obviously, at the 6…
