The artistry on display is both phenomenal and ambitious. Everything from the costuming, the dance choreography, the musical score, the performances... it's all insanely remarkable and each technical aspect compliments one another.
Natalie Portman definitely left audiences gooped and gagged back in 2010. It's a transformative performance and she rightfully won best actress for this role.
It's an immensely engrossing story of pushing one's limits and watching small inner cracks become entire ruptures of self-decay (for the sake of art). The finale is ambiguous and it's also brilliant. It leaves us with a sense of "what was and what wasn't" feeling. A total gaslighting vibe. Slay.
It's a visceral character study that is all-around captivating and sheer perfection. 10/10.
