Acting, character work, direction were all tops in this film. Definitely not for everyone as it’s a slow burn, and requires an appreciation for the type of person this character is. Love Blanchett here and think it’s a way more interesting look at the social issues than I’ve seen others attempt.

This is a bonafide new holiday classic. I think between the acting, writing and committed production design this is a beautiful sentimental film. Payne caught my attention and the main three cast all deserved their flowers. Giamatti’s Good Will Hunting.

The visuals in this are captivating. Beautiful color palette, lighting, and set design. AND THE DRESSES! Our main characters wardrobe is truly unmatched.
The acting was well done. The story was intriguing. But I will say the camera work, blocking, etc sell this over everything. It exemplifies the growing tension in this situation and in this relationship.
