This is Robert De Niro’s directorial debut and it’s pretty damn good. He definitely picked up a few things while working with Scorsese for 20 years. Very engaging story of a kid torn between essentially two father figures, Sonny his gangster father and Lorenzo his real hard working father. Robert De Niro as always gives a great performance and this time it’s in a role that I’ve never seen him play before and he kills it.
