    I'm so grateful to the Criterion Channel for making this easy to find today. I've being hearing a lot about it recently, and it did not disappoint. The second I saw that Brackett and Billy Wilder wrote it, I knew why it had folks talking.

    It's my birthday tomorrow, so I thought a birthday movie was in order. I tend to be overly sentimental, and my goodness, this film made me incredibly nostalgic.

    I fear my 18 year old self would be mightily disappointed in my about to be 58 year old self, but I think she would have been far more hyped to meet the 39 year old me. That's something, I suppose.

    I thought this was well done by everyone involved, but it's hard to deny just how much Aubrey Plaza brings to the table (even when it's only her voice).

    This film is much like seeing an art masterpiece at a museum. I can recognize the amazing craft, the historical references, the surprising break from the known, the elegance and beauty in the work, and yet, if it doesn't engage my heart, leaves me impressed but ultimately cold.
