If there is a film that radiates joy better than this one, I don't think I have seen it yet. How I felt watching this film was how I feel watching my all-time favorites. It radiates charm, wonder and as previously stated joy, like very few films I have seen.
The film excels when it explores its main relationships, the father/daughter relationship is explored thoroughly to say the film is just short of 90 minutes with some wonderful moments at the start of the film that allows these characters to grow but also to show a realistic and lovely parental relationship. That praise stretches out to the relationship between sisters Mei and Satsuki but of course with loveable teddy bear Totoro. These relationships are core to the movie and the time is done to flesh them out.
Other than that the score is wonderful and the simplistic story does its job and hangs these relationships and conversations on it wonderfully. I loved it. It's wonderful.
