Another strong contender for funniest movie of all time. Waters has improved so much as a filmmaker from Maniacs to here (haven't seen Pink Flamingos in between but I'm sure you can see more evolution there), you can tell he's reveling in that enormous $25,000 budget.
Divine is more powerful than ever here. I genuinely didn't even question her playing a teenager as a start, there was so much confidence in that performance it was like "oh yeah, of course, that's a teen girl". I don't know what else came out this year but I do know that whoever won best supporting actress wasn't jackshit compared to Mink Stole in this who is giving an all-timer comedic performance pretty much just by yelling.
There's a lot of yelling in this. Yelling and insane line readings. Did that guy decide to say auto industry like that? Or did Waters tell him to do that? Whatever the case, I'm glad it happened.
Just some all time great lines in this, the biggest laugh for me was probably "How many times have I told you to play car accident outside?" which made me pause the movie for a minute or two there. It is pure insane shit for 1:40 and we're lucky it exists.
