techno-orientalism is the concept that asian people are inherently robotic and emotionless, hard workers who share the same group-mind in exchange for being technologically advanced. this is heavily used in sci-fi, whether it's the future being portrayed as having a vaguely asian aesthetic or literally where asian characters are more likely to be service robots than actual people. it's actually incredible that "new asia" was the best name they could come up with after meshing an entire race into one conglomerate, like be so fr your writing can't be racist AND lazy lol
