After the success of H20, it was surprising that a Halloween film wasn't churned out right away. It might've been for the better. In fact, I think the franchise should've just waited it out until the remake and have H20 be the end of the original franchise.
Don't get me wrong, I like Resurrection, but I certainly wouldn't go so far as to call it a masterpiece, and it sure as hell isn't the best sequel under any circumstance.
Despite some cool concepts involving the internet and reality television, the film ultimately feels a bit flat when it comes to scares and creeps. Michael Myers is creepy as always, but just playing the Halloween theme whenever he's around wears off after six Myers films.
I am in no way saying Halloween: Resurrection is a bad film. In fact, I'd say it has some of the better acting in the sequels that came out after the eighties.
Bianca Kajlich's character, I found, to be unlikeable. I wasn't really rooting for her character at all. In fact, I kind of wished Michael would've killed her off. And dear God, don't get me started on how much I hated Busta Rhymes's character. I wished Michael would have came in and slashed both of their throats at the end. I would've much rather Tyra's character living.
As far as the other actors go, it's pretty decent. It's not bad, but then again, it's not good. It almost makes the film feel like a campy throwback to the 80s, which doesn't improve the film in any way.
Overall, some cool concepts are not enough to save this film from the atrocity that is Busta Rhymes and his so-called "acting" career. For that, I give Halloween: Resurrection two and a half Busta Rhymes karate kicking Myers out of five.
