Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a dazzling and immersive anamorphic spectacle, built with so much heart that one is willing to forego the fact that this is ‘another superhero movie’ Sure, a spade is a spade and this too happens to be another one in a never-ending array of movies about people with powers who battle self-doubt and a big bad wolf to save the day. But in a fair assessment, this movie even with regular formulaic plot cranks it up a several notches and it does that in grand style!
Right from the opening credits, this movie swaggers its way from one scene to another with infinite energy which doesn’t wither away, even in the moments of high tension. The movie nails down the tonal balance, casting, plot, and basically very creative risk, and one is left to wonder what Solo would have looked like in the hands of Miller and Lord. On a personal note, I would love if the Flash gets attached to these people because they would really bring something different to the table.
My personal favorite was Nicholas Cage who possibly, gives his best performance in years?
I don’t know if saying that is sacrilege, but the people involved in this movie really got an authentic Nic Cage performance out of him and left me hoping that a Spider-Noir spin-off is in works. Even though I had my reservations about the soundtrack by Post-Malone, it works well with the movie.
P.S- The Stan Lee cameo really got me, R.I.P
P.P.S - This movie could be a tough contender to beat for Best Animated Movie Oscar.
