Structurally and plot-wise this film is a real mess, but the film is absolutely saved by its worldbuilding and characters. Getting to see more of the underworld was an absolute blast! Filled with so many fun and creative designs that utilise a lot of practical make up and effect were a real highlight. We also got one helluva cast who all-in-all make for a fun ensemble - Great to see Lydia upgraded from cool goth teen to cool goth Mum but the real stars here are Michael Keaton and Catherine O'Hara (who have not missed a beat with their characters, even 34 years later) and Willem Defoe who is having an absolute blast playing this ridiculous character that feels so fitting in this world.
