Seth Brundle Fly’s review published on Letterboxd:
I don't know why I waited this long to watch Black Swan. It's incredible; maybe my favorite Aronofsky film thus far (which is saying a lot given my love for Mother!). I'm just completely in love with the way the entire film plays slightly off-key while still demonstrating harmony. It's chaotic, yet composed. Abstract, yet concise. Black Swan's structure, style and tone work metaphorically, mirroring the theme of duality found within the narrative—it's genius. The result is a viewing experience that excels at conveying both psychological and emotional turmoil, making for a discomforting—yet wholely engaging—two hours of cinema.
This was scary; Portman was scary... ...fuck, ballet was scary. The entire thing was imbued with a macabre sensibility, underpinned by a sinister spirit, but for as disturbing as it was, top-to-bottom, so too was it filled with undisputable beauty.
