One of the main reasons I love this film so much is because I relate to most of its aspects. Especially it’s main aspect. The fact that these two individuals are perfect for each other but for some reason they don’t end together. Some of us get to experience that in this lifetime, at least I did. This film reminds me of that and it’s so fulfilling and warm yet heartbreaking every time I watch it. That’s why I keep watching it.
On top of that the use of color is beyond impeccable, the direction is incredible, the dialogue is so beautiful that makes this movie the beauty it is, the chemistry between Gosling and Stone is to die for, and the numbers are entertaining and memorable that it stays in your heart every time you hear them. La La Land is a masterpiece for me and Damien Chazelle did an amazing job with this. I am so grateful I get the chance to experience La La Land in real time, again and again, and appreciate something new every time I do. It’s never easy to find something that taps into every emotion coursing through your body and this film does exactly that.
I hear the Mia and Sebastian theme playing, my heart stops, I feel, it’s no longer about Mia and Sebastian but I find myself thinking about my “what if”. Then it stops and I’m back to reality again.
They were so perfect for each other and they should have ended up together. But they didn’t. And that’s okay. I’ve accepted that. Although, sometimes a dream is the only thing that keeps us going. Even the ones that were never meant to come true. Fate can be a bitch sometimes.
