2014 Ranked List
Christopher Nolan’s obsession with time in his films is something of a hinderance when he tries to flesh out his ideas on paper. The script at times (not always) stumbles over itself and doesn’t always pack the emotional punch it needs, no matter how hard Chastain, McConaughey, and Hathaway try to make up for the lack of showing instead of telling. That being said, I did really enjoy this film and the ideas it presents, and the score further cements my belief Hans Zimmer should compose for every movie ever made. Nolan is a great director, but I believe his writing this time around could have used another draft.
