More likely to be arrested for kicking a dog than you are shooting an Indian.
Second viewing, much like the first, but with a fuller sense of dread and tragedy. It’s striking how very brutish Ernest, King, and all the rest of these white men are throughout the movie. It’s impossible for me to fully encapsulate my thoughts on this film, because the root destruction has yet to fully be confronted. Perhaps it never will, and that is surely one of the great shames humanity must bear. There is no justice in America, just as there is no justice in Palestine. Until the earth can be free of us, I fear that the terror of capitalism, of white supremacy, will continue to be enforced and acted upon. Pretty melancholic film on Christmas Eve, but I am glad I was able to revisit this again, as I am sure I will in the future as well.
