Watched last night with my buddy for his first time. My 3rd friend now that didn’t like part one all that much, but loved part 2.
On this watch, I found it very interesting that when Paul declares himself the Lisan Al Gaib and says his full name, he doesn’t include Usul, the name given to him by Stilgar. Reinforcing his Atreides background, Muad’ib (which he chose) and uses as his monicker. Gives the impression of an outsider whose use of their culture has become a tool, and he hast lost respect for what it meant to be Fedaykin, to be equal to his fellow warrior. Just further emphasizes how tight Dune: Part 2 is, from composition to diction and all in between.
Love how excited Feyd Rautha is the back half, he’s practically salivating the entire throne room sequence.
I wonder how they’re going to tie Chani back into Paul’s life in Messiah. Denis made a great choice, I think, changing her character in the ways he did to streamline the themes of the book, I hope he doesn’t just reverse course.
