Well, another one walks out the door, another one comes in. That's what it's all about.
A great allegory of the American Dream. An even greater critique of it. Everyone knows that they could have been someone . That feeling is as universal as it is obvious. Though, seeing these kids slowly come to terms with the fact they might not be someone is profound.

The cinematography is stunning and Jacob Erlodi is handsome. That's where my appreciation for this film stops.
Looking past the glow of hot actors, hot locations and hot cinematography, you're left with a mess of a film. Horribly underwritten characters. Contrived and constant attempts at provocation. The only reason the bizarre, on-the-nose "twist" ending works is because Oliver's intentions are so inconsistent throughout the film.
