I don’t usually write these kinds of things often anymore, but I figured that this is personally important enough to qualify as a “paint drying on the wall announcement/personal review.”

For those who are confused with who this “random” user is, my Letterboxd username is Pizz4PandaRevs, which has been my display name that I made four years ago when I first created this account. For a while, I’ve been wanting to change my display name to something else, but I thought that the only way of doing that was by paying for the PRO upgrade. Recently, I found out that you could change your display name by entering a new one in the “given name” slot in my settings.

So I’ve decided to change my display name to A Rare Cinephile, not only because that’s what my YouTube channel account is named, but I also think it’s a more professional appearance for my Letterboxd account.

Many of you have probably noticed that I’ve also added this: ✝️ to the end of my account name. For four years, I’ve been very converted to my world views, politics, and religious faith, which is something that I’ve been comfortable with doing for years, until very recently.

Nowadays, I think revealing my faith through this account is something that I’m now being called to do. The discovery of the christian community on Letterboxd has definitely boosted this notion for a while now.

Some time ago, my surprisingly popular Veggietales list was pretty much the only hint at my christian faith, but I guess that that was just the beginning of me being overt with it. Soon after, I would add a couple of verses from Romans to my Top 150 Favorite Films of All Time List and earlier this year, I updated my bio to include verses from Romans and Luke. The cross at the end of my display name is now the cherry on top.

I’ve been a christian all my life, so for those who think this is a new me, it’s not. The only thing that’s new is that my faith has gotten stronger, especially in the past year and I’ve never felt more comfortable and confident in showcasing that.

I will continue to rate and review films as per usual (I'm seeing Dune: Part 2 tomorrow, so you can look forward to a review of that). I also plan to make more short films in the future and add them to my YouTube channel. But what I really wanted to do with this post is to thank @FilmEnthusiast✝️ for not only encouraging me to be more overt with my christian faith, but also for helping me find my place on Letterboxd as both a christian and a lover of film.
