    From the opening shot of the conquistadors marching across the mountain to Aguirre's final rambling speech on a raft surrounded by monkeys and corpses, Aguirre, the Wrath of God is a brilliant and endlessly compelling movie.     Gamera 3: Awakening of Iris is a triumph of kaiju filmmaking. While Kaneko's previous two Gamera films were great, the third and final film of his trilogy surpasses them even further. 

    Awakening of Iris distinguishes itself from previous Gamera movies by acknowledging an elephant (or in this case, fire-breathing turtle) in the room: while Gamera might be on humanity's side, he causes tons of destruction and casualties himself.
