Ian Kemper’s review published on Letterboxd:
Ok, I've got thoughts. Or.....let's just say, I've got thoughts but I'll put those aside because I've got one major question that I can't shake.
But first, just so we're clear, I'm not mad at this movie, nor annoyed, nor let down. I knew what I was getting into (thanks to Jade talks too much). My wife knew what we were getting into. I chose this little nugget as our Christmas filmic kick-off for a reason. And that reason is, let's ease on into the season with the gentlest of formats, the "I'm only comfortable with over the bra stuff" of cinema, the "let's just cuddle a bit and go back and forth with our favorite Jars of Clay songs" of moviedom, the KY Warming lube of celluloid holliday insertions. And you know what, it delivered. Unlike a certain high concept, low reward, film we watched right after this (featuring a certain Biltmore hotel.....), this thing knew what it was (charminly cute), what it was aiming for (the Venn diagram of people who love Full House, dudes with impossibly angular faces, and candy canes), and what it wasn't (a naturalistic film where people act like normal people and say things that normal people say). So yeah, we had a good time with this slice of holiday cheese.
But here's the thing I cant shake:
How many of those black totes with yellow tops does Hallmark own in order to keep all the holliday decorations stored between films, and what size garage are they storing them in?? Those totes do have to be stored in a garage you know. I'm assuming not even that "Here in my garage" guy could fit them all even if he cleared out his rented Lambo, took down the white board of Knowledge, and scuttled the book shelves. And think of all the fake Christmas tree boxes! This film alone is absolutely lousy with trees, sometimes having two in one freaking office. So I don't know what size garage would be required, nor how many totes, but suffice it to say, I'm thinking it's a metric shit ton. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Ian, Hallmark has warehouses for all that shit", and yes, I'm aware they probably have warehouses in like Saratoga Springs NY, or some such place, that they store wardrobe, and lighting rigs, and fake snow making machines, and 100 Cricut machines. But unless those warehouses have a roll up garage door, with a red emergency release string, and many wire shelves ready to buckle under the excessive weight that'll be asked of them, then Hallmark absolutely can not store holiday decoration totes in them. This should be obvious. So I guess if anyone has information on this, and is willing to dish, I'd be greatly appreciative.
