A movie of wild swings. A musical with both the cringiest songs and some fun bops. A crime drama that both features the darkness of Mexican cartels and an attempt at redemption. A trans story that both glorifies living your true self while also struggling with the shame of honesty. Zoe Saldaña gives her all with her singing and dancing while Selena Gomez mostly feels underused and is just there. At times, the cinematography is beautiful and interesting and then we suddenly have muddy colors and underlit sets. It wants to be too much and in the end spreads itself a bit too thin.
