There goes Osgood Perkins...stealing my heart again. He's officially now in the ranks of Aster and Eggers. His movies have amazing cinematography, carefully positioned camera angles, and a consistent sense of dread.
The Monkey is a tonal shift from his previous slow burn efforts for a more zany and psychotic motif. It's a true horror comedy. I saw this with a pretty packed 9:30 PM audience last night and they were roaring at the kills and the offbeat characters.

Gotta give props to Tess Degenstein. She's the actress who plays the real estate agent. She so clearly understood the tone of this film + her role within it; her performance is brilliantly calibrated. She kinda stole the movie for me.
