    The best thing about Cuckoo was re-discovering the French electropop band Martin Dupont. Sure, it was visually interesting, and Hunter Schafer did her best to hold it together, but the film’s attempt to be a weird Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets Donnie Darko fell flat. Instead, it ended up feeling absolutely stupid—style over substance in the worst way.

    What a wonderful film experience. Watching it you can see the influence Harry E. Smith has on animation (especially Terry Gilliam). I just wish I could have seen it live with Flying Lotus doing the score, because that would have been awesome!

    I remember watching this at 14 and thinking it was a piece of garbage but through out my youth I always thought about it and I never knew why. Then when I was about 25 I re-watched it and discovered how brilliant this film is. The slow pacing and Harry Dean Stanton's brilliant performance really make this film powerful and when you have a Sam Shepard screenplay you really can't go wrong.
