not at all what i expected but really good nonetheless. visceral terror turning inside(s) out and vice versa but also setting up a soapy relationship drama around an unsatisfied second wife. the melodrama produces spikes of weeping tragedy among all the grossout horror and i thought it quite the fine balancing act between these two types of excessive emotional affect. much like its main theme of pain and pleasure for the characters it also inflicts them successfully on the viewer with nasty methods. i know the series takes quite the dip from now on but i think i’ll stick around if only to see how they handle this in other installments. vfx looking fantastic and way too real sometimes and i got a bit of the good old creepies here n there. Clive Barker’s mind is a scary place.
