Franco Nero is a top 3 spaghetti western icon for me after this film. His appearance in Unchained means so much more now and I finally understand why Tarantino took so much influence!
Awesome action, awesome one liners, beyond awesome music. There’s a scene in here about a third the way through which is a definite top fiver moment from any western.

Absolutely revolutionary cinematography with an excellent narrative to boot. Loved the references to the late and beyond great Sidney Poitier. Loved just about everything about this.
There’s something to be said about the feeling of relief I felt when the guy approached El at that bar. Knowing it’s a friend and not an enemy. Fuck.
I was blubbering up during every scene involving Elwood’s Nana, and that ending. Maybe I’m just particularly emotional tonight idk
This one had me so fucked up. I literally finished it and started doing other things then started tearing up again fucks sake

So fucking cool.
When I watched Foxy Brown I expected the other Jack Hill x Pam Grier collaboration, “Coffy”, to be an equally cathartic and authentic example of Blaxsploitation cinema. I expected Grier to be as badass and strong as she is in Foxy Brown, just as I expected the story and dialogue to be comparably satisfying and gritty. Coffy delivers on this and more some.
