Sandra Oh playing against type in a comedy role I did not see coming.
It's a fun comedy that has a good minute-to-joke ratio and I enjoyed the epilogue greatly.

Here's an angry slice of Cyberpunk action that I wish would find a bigger audience.

Logan Marshall-Green is an actor you hire when Tom Hardy is too busy or too expensive, and Upgrade is a film that could glibly be described as "Venom meets Robocop".

It's a mean film. A violent one. A short one. And it might have needed another redraft of its ending. But I enjoy it, and I hope one day Channel 5 or ITV2 pick it up and air it again and again and again so it eventually carves out a cult fanbase.

Eggers at his very best in terms of tone and atmosphere. He's always been exceptional with shadow and moonlight, but he takes it to another level here, and seems to have improved with his use of fire since The Northman.

It's good. Nicholas Hoult is really good at having "wet eyes" - kind of like a puppy. Most directors make him use it when he's hit with a realisation he's not the man he wants to be, or pretending to…

Gladiator is a famous example of a decent script being transformed into a Masterpiece through great direction, cinematography, soundtracking and some brilliant acting from multiple actors in the cast.

Gladiator 2 is a sometimes shonky script being turned into a decent film through solid direction and Denzel Washington putting in a real MVP two-and-a-bit hours. I haven't seen him elevate a project to this degree since Training Day. Every time he's onscreen, Ridley is just feeding him the ball and…
