    This is a Malayalam film centred around an affluent family in a posh locality in one of the big cities in Kerala. Laced with humour, the film's screenplay falters in the later half. Some of the sequences in the Police Station appear added to lengthen the film. Misogyny, eavesdropping, gossiping, benevolence, empathy, the functioning and the role of influence in the Police Department et al have been woven into the film.

    The film could have been handled better...

    This Payal Kapadia directed film has a female gaze centred on three ladies in different age groups. It can be said that Mumbai is also a character in this film. Mumbai is often referred to as a metropolis of dreams. But it also has a dimension of illusions. The film has a layer about this issue. The claustrophobic existence of migrant ladies is also shown. The pale blue hue of the colour palette indicates the moods of the main characters.…

    Thangalaan has all the features of a Pa Ranjit film. It has Dalit assertion, aesthetics, raw energy, magical realism, mysticism among others. But for me, the emotional quotient was missing and the film did not hit me hard and rattle me. Vfx struck a jarring note. The filming is done well.
