A perfectly serviceable kids adventure that I enjoyed! Can’t wait for the third one!

A disappointing and overlong finale that wasn’t terrible, but nowhere near as good of a finale as The Return of the King. I feel like The Hobbit would’ve worked better as one long movie instead of a trilogy. This should’ve been so much better and that’s all I really have to say.

★★★½ Rewatched 15 Dec 2024
A perfectly fine movie that I’d say is on the same level as the first film. This one has its fair share of cool moments but it once again feels dragged out and all of the new plot elements and characters aren’t very interesting. This one wasn’t terrible and it was awesome to see Legolas again, but this one ultimately turned out to be just fine and that’s all I really have to say.

A perfectly fine movie that would’ve benefited from a shorter runtime. While I enjoyed the characters, the movie spends way too much time introducing everyone and there are too many characters to keep track of. Once the adventure actually gets started, the film is really fun and enjoyable, especially the scene with Gollum and Bilbo. In my opinion, this movie is a perfectly fine start to the trilogy and that’s all I really have to say.

There’s a reason why this is my favorite movie of all time. It’s perfect on every level and it’s so epic and emotional. This is what Martin Scorsese would call “Absolute cinema.”

Just as good as Fellowship of the Ring, if not a bit better. This is a truly epic, awesome continuation of the trilogy with many great moments that I absolutely adore just like the first one. Great film!
