    Unfortunately, Red One fails at most of what it's trying to accomplish. It has a tough time finding a strong balance between a whimsical story and more adult-centered dialogue and comedy, while not really succeeding at either. The visuals are muddled and unimpressive inside of a deeply bloated run time. I'd say your family might have fun watching but I'm not sure there is much joy and fun to be had.

    I really started to enjoy the last act and epilogue, but it was a bit of a struggle through the movie's first half. I agree that Craig's performance was strong and maybe if I were more familiar with William S Burrough's prior to viewing, it would have hit harder.
