"The juice is loose"
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice matches the original in it's utter wackiness but really doesn't do all that much other than that. I wasn't really that excited for it to be honest but I went in with a very open mind. It's honestly really funny and I had a great time, but it really isn't all that great. I honestly loved Burtons direction but it still feels artificial compared to his earlier works. The practical effects were awesome but the cgi needed lots of work. I like that we follow a very different story from the original, it really tries to stay out of it's shadow. Sadly the tone jumps around way to much, it really tries being way to many things at once. It's a comedy, a horror film, a spanish soap opera, an odd beat romance musical, a police procedural, and a hyper sexual kids film. Some of it works but it jumps from each style so much that it gets exhausting. The cast is certainly fun but many of the members really shouldn't have been there, for example Monica Belluci. But anyways the cast surely had a great time, even if most of them were shoehorned in, but again overall it really isn't great.
Also everyone in the group I saw this with said that this was better than Barbie, which actually baffles me, I'm not even the biggest fan of that film but I can still tell that it was much better than this.
