Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a victim of pesky legacy sequel expectations to a certain extent. There's no obligation for a movie like this to update the audience on each character and provide a blanket layer of reverence over everything, especially with a property like Beetlejuice, but the first act is choppy and I was pretty concerned for a minute. No matter. Once Tim Burton's latest kicks into high gear, it's a real delight. With wacky scattered sub-plots, extravagant visual imagination, and a clear handmade idiosyncratic vision for all things ghoulish, I was fully won over by the end. Has one of my favorite needle-drops in *years*, courtesy of the great Pino Donaggio. The cherry on top arrives in the form of its gorgeous autumnal photography, with plenty of Halloween decor and trick or treating! 🎃
