October 2nd 1988, the day the film starts, and Iykyk. But I decided to rewatch Donnie Darko as today is October 2nd and that’s when the film starts off until the 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds happen. And honestly, I think I enjoyed and loved it more this time. I’m not a huge fan of it but I really love the vibe and the confusion of the film.
In my opinion, the thing that makes this film great isn’t the story, it isn’t the cheesy acting, or the funky dialogue, but it’s the feel and vibes from it. I don’t know exactly how to explain it but when I first watched this film, there was a feel, a very early 2000 film feel. It’s great, and it makes up for the dialogue and acting at times for me. The twist and the odd tone of the film is awesome to me, it’s not even necessarily a horror film and not too much of a thriller but I’ll count it as a gateway. That’s another reason I decided to watch this today.
BTW THE SCORE AND THE MUSIC IN THIS, I LOVED IT. Thats also one of my favorite things about the film and it adds onto that vibe that I’m talking about. It’s an amazing film, I’m not too much of a fan or stan on it but I still love it. Later tonight I’ll try and watch Silence of the Lambs as that was my original plan today. (AND IF YOU HAVE ANY HORROR RECOMMENDATIONS YOU CAN LET ME KNOWWW, I’ll most likely watch as I’m mainly watching horror films this month and I’m taking a little slight pause on the other recommendations, so let me know if you have any horror wise in the comments or in the recommendations list!!)
