    Not worth the wait. No focus for all the explaining, no zing for all the quirkiness, nothing to say for all the commentary, and the love story lacked the chemistry it needed to be the soul of this cut-and-paste movie. Side note: when will we finally be free of Mark Ruffalo’s painfully unfunny Trump impression??

    Forcing myself to watch this never-ending ham-fisted schlockfest did in fact bring me closer to its themes of the meaninglessness of human suffering and the purpose of pain. Just probably not the way God and/or the filmmaker intended.

    Someone somewhere once said that there is nothing more tedious than having to listen to someone talk about a dream they had. That’s how I felt watching this movie: like I was smiling and nodding through someone talking about their dream, pretending that the feelings and symbols they found so profound weren’t registering as flat and meaningless in the retelling. A sheen of artificiality covered the whole thing, and I was glad when it was over.
