Wim Wenders crafts a unique masterpiece, this film has the best coloring i have ever seen in a film. It depicts a slow, somber, and methodical journey of a man, a father and a brother, through the fog of his memory. This film does not have to earn its veiwers attention with cheap tricks, it merely captivates. If I had to describe it it would be something along the lines of Taxi Driver directed by David Lynch. Best narrative feature anime of all time? This movie is so wholesome, but thematically deep. At times the messages are straight forward and apparent but at other times much more deep, meaning that people of all ages can enjoy it on different levels. After seeing Longlegs next year, and watching the trailer for this, I was excited to see what Perkins would do. I was sincerely disappointed by this film. Messy, nonsensical and just repetitive and shallow. If you enjoy gore, which is dumb, you might like this film, even then it's still pretty bad. Some decent moments, and I still see the director shine through bits and pieces of the film, but its overall lackluster and forgettable. And a lot of the end sequence was literally trailer bait which is so annoying.
