Since watching The Lighthouse I’ve been wanting to revisit this film. Finally got around to it and I’m glad I did.
The Vvitch is such an intense film. It’s slow, bleak and devoid of hope.
It feels like a nightmare. It’s horror in the true sense of the word.
Is it scary? I don’t know. But it’s a deeply unsettling portrait of how pride and blind faith destroys a family and how all the blame eventually falls on the one person that’s truly innocent, the teenage-daughter.
Oh, and it’ll make me talk like a settler from the 1630s for the next week or so...
