Could be better, but it is infinitely more watchable during the parts where Beetlejuice is actually interacting with the Deetz family. I guess I never really watched Beetlejuice for the plot, so that didn't really bother me. And it was fun to see these characters again.
My wife's take (during the first act): This is so slow, but I have to watch it! (we are children of the 80s)

My older daughter: At least the green screen is better this time.
