95 It's been too long since I rewatched the musical masterpiece that is La La Land.
This movie evokes an emotional response from me that no other movie does. It's story is resonant and real but still magical to the nth degree. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling give performances that are basically perfect, and between the script and their natural chemistry they make for a couple that is fantastic to watch on screen.
The cinematography is dropdead gorgeous. The 35mm look is stunning, and the different colors shine through fantastically. DP Linus Sandgren gives us a lifetime-defining piece of eye candy that fulfills the highest of fantasy sugar rushes. So the look is flawless, and the sound matches. The music is so so so so so (so x1000) good. Stone and Gosling's singing is so good and adds to their already great chemistry. The scene on the road after the pool party is musical perfection. The way Gosling tears the piano apart (it's actually him playing!) is magical to watch, and every single note sung is beautiful.
The pacing is fantastic, and the movie flies by in the best way possible. It's edited well, and there is literally nothing bad I can say about this movie.
