The Horror of Marna Larsen’s review published on Letterboxd:
Not great to begin with?
But somehow, being stuck watching really terrible movies around the holidays because they r familar or even just existed in a time when my family still did too is some lofi purgatory for just kind of doing what was easiest my whole life?? So like, it's not great but u can count on it always being the same?? Which always, tbh made purgatory seem not so bad??
(I'm sure Allen would have some ...thoughts... on that)
What always struck me is how the narrative seems to think retaining one's childlike wonder is synonymous with being a total asshole. Both dad and kid always struck me as equally annoying/ unable to make the best of a bad situation/ while mom and Neil are stuck trying to be the adults which the narrative continuously sneers at them for because we know the real truth don't we??
Most needing of some Spielbergian cgi removel of irresponsible content after the fact like ...literally anyone else??
You did it. U won. 😐
Also the heartwarming ending is ... 'dad I'm going to kill u & take your job'
