So much I could say, so much I could gush about. As I’ve written several times before, tackling and especially revisiting these favorites of mine sometimes feels like an overstretch of my writing abilities, but I’ll try my best with this one as I feel like I’m able to put my sentiments a little better into words than I might’ve with others.
Space travel has always been a very interesting concept to me. I feel like I was born right in that divot of history where we as a society had the first big advances with the moon landing and stuff of that nature way back decades ago, and have yet to really crack the next steps of what lies out there in the stars and where we can even get to. At least in my eyes, it’s a concept that’s been left to the wayside in favor of other technologies and developments that seem to be progressing at an alarming rate almost every single day. This might be a completely false statement considering how little I know about the state of the science world these days, but from the outside looking in that’s what seems to be the state of things.
Christopher Nolan fully encompasses that seemingly bygone feeling here; yearning for what the cosmos are and our purpose within them, and whether we are just some small piece of some grander puzzle that we will never get to see to completion. Combine that with a stellar score, outstanding visuals, and a cast that brings an intense gut wrenching but riveting level of humanity (you guys know how much I love that stuff lol), and Interstellar still sits firmly in my favorite movies of all time.
