Imagine being young and impressionable. Wanting to find love and you found it through the most famous person on the planet. Only to then find that person you thought will give you everything just destroyed your ability to see and view love in ways you didn’t realize before it was too late. What then?
Coppola’s latest outing puts us into the shoes of Priscilla in the most subtle and conventional ways imaginable by starting with her hopeful optimism and desire to be in love with Elvis and then slowly but steadily turning into something harmful and toxic both in terms of Priscilla’s worldview and the douche bag like nature within Elvis. All aided to Coopla’s direction and especially to the powerhouse performance from Cailee Spaeny perfectly showcasing the wide range of Priscilla’s emotional state throughout this story, and Jacob Elordi’s take on Elvis being someone who’s both cool and heartfelt but also aggressive and controlling.
I don’t have anything else to say about this, except it’s a must see. It’s one of the most introspective character studies I have seen and one that captures the feeling of something that was once like a dream to only become a nightmare that puts you into a state of loneliness and makes you wish you can take it back before you even step into it.
