the greatest film of all time, transcending genre. excuse me for being gay and dramatic, but this film fundamentally changed me as a person. mia farrow is the reason i want to become an actor. this performance is one of the most vulnerable, unsettling even with her SKIN at the peak of her pregnancy. oh my fu k it creeps under your skin like a parasite and instills paranoia. the subtext deals with sexual repression. religious guilt. the dream sequences say more about rosemary, as a person, than anything in the entire film.
i will never unsee mia farrows eyes popping out of her skull, upon the first glance of her baby. true terror. from the ‘is god dead?’ time magazine cover rosemary indulges in or the beautiful colors or her reflection in the toaster…the atmosphere is flawless. the dream sequences are so spot on. i could go on for days but i fear i’ll explode.
rosie is the grandmother of horror. i see her influence in every shade. truly one of the most influential horror films ever made. if you have never seen this film or are on the fence, let this be a sign. hail satan!
