I’ve seen some very different opinions on this film. Personally I thought this was great. My parents hated it but honestly that tends to be a good barometer to determine if I will like it or not. I absolutely love the way this was shot. The way they frame things I found myself constantly looking behind characters trying to see if something is coming up behind them (which finally paid off towards the end. I won’t elaborate more). I think the main performances are fantastic here. The music and sound effects really worked for me especially in the beginning of the film. Few horror movies genuinely scare me but this one did. There were some issues I had. I found the ending to be a bit anticlimactic. I feel that it either should have ended earlier or added a few more scenes to wrap it up. I feel that the two twist reveals towards the end were really obvious that they were going to happen. I don’t think it ruined it for me but it does take a bit of punch from them. There are a few loud noise scares here. Usually this just annoys me every time but surprisingly they were actually used well here (except for one). For me I think the first two acts of this film were almost perfect. The final act just falls short for me. Still overall I think this is great. I might be a bit too high on it due to the fact that it actually scared me (which is an extremely rare thing for me). I could see this film going up to a 9 or down to a 7 on a rewatch it just depends.
