I LOVE WICKED. I was so scared for this movie, and so pleasantly surprised that it’s good!! Thank goodness 💚 It’s awesome that the movie came out this good!!
Based on the long run time and it being a part one, I thought we were going to get more material from the book, but aside from that one childhood scene and a few other moments, 99% of it was exactly the show’s Act 1 but longer. A lot of the lines were exactly from the show. It did feel like every song and scene was elongated, which made it feel more like a celebration of Wicked than an adaptation, but that’s not totally a bad thing for me. I HAD SO MUCH FUN!! They did a really good job depicting the magic in movie form, and I was really surprised that they didn’t cut any songs. They made Jeff Goldblum SING, which means he WILL, more likely than not, sing the full song Wonderful in part 2 😅 I mean, he didn’t sound horrible 👍 
Ariana Grande, despite my concerns, definitely won me over. She seemed a little off to me in the first song, but she definitely embodied Galinda for the rest of the movie. Ariana does great with the comedic moments, and she delivers on the emotional too. I have a feeling she’ll deliver for part 2. She did a good job! Cynthia Erivo sounded and did AMAZING, and although she does delivers sass, I would’ve liked more in the comedic lines. I left kinda wanting more character from her, but that’s really a nit pick. Fiyero stole my heart 😅 And honestly, everyone did amazing.
 A lot of these are nit pick, the only problem I can see with this movie is it’s runtime. Although I loved being in this world, which by the way I want to live in this movie’s Oz like wow, you could feel the stretching of scenes. The ballroom scene was long, and defying gravity, AS EPIC AS IT WAS CUZ IT WAS REALLY EPIC, could have been paced better. What is this feeling and the wizard and I were really well paced, but a sentimental man kind of dragged. But for me, not a huge problem.
This movie has so much freaking CHARM. One short day is so fun, a lot of this movie is just so fun. If more scenes with Elphaba were fun and fast paced, the movie would be shorter and paced better. Those two cameos almost made me jump out of my seat!! Also, I want a library like the one at Shiz please.
As a movie goer, I have a problem with the runtime and pacing, but as a fan, GIVE ME MORE!! I loved the Wizard of Oz references with the title card and literally seeing Dorothy is crazy, although I couldn’t tell if scarecrow was with her, cuz I don’t think he’s supposed to be? 🤷‍♀️
I don’t know how I feel about the movie’s version of No One Mourns The Wicked, something about it feels off but I can’t put my finger on it, I would have to rewatch it. 
Wicked was so fun, a good adaptation, and I will go rewatch it five more times. I went with some friends who didn’t really know much about wicked, and they enjoyed it, so I think that’s a win. Sorry for the length of this review, I have more to say but I’ll stop rambling. Good movie, go watch it 💚🩷💚🩷
