June Film Log
When it comes to superb comic book films, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse definitely dips into that pool as one of the slickest and most unique entries yet. For many people, this is their first introduction to Miles Morales and his journey so if you first had assumptions that this might be a simple and easy origin story to follow, you’re certainly not wrong it takes those beats but instead of keeping it at that pace it far exceeds it’s own expectations by delivering the ultimate thrill ride that many different age groups can be awe too.
The story by Phil Lord deserves a lot of praise as it packs with a lot of emotional heart, comedy that’s timed pretty well whilst delivering a high packed energy spectacle that won’t leave your sight from start to finish + the credits. The whole team at Sony Pictures deserve a round of applause for adding a lot of detail and effort into making this as authentic and loving.
Miles Morales is a character that we became invested with during it’s 117 minute runtime as he overcomes many of the difficult hurdles that have presented to him such as family and friends so it’s becomes wholesome to see him finally coming to terms of her responsibilities as Spiderman. His interactions with different incarnations of Spider-Mans is a major highlight in particular Peter B Parker who evokes a father figure presence to the teenager.
The animation was fantastic to witness as it brought a lot of crisp movement and wow factor through it’s trippy psychedelic effects to compliment the action sequences at present. In addition, to have it shot like a comic book panel through it’s quotation bubbles was just wonderful. The music which incorporates classic and modernhip-hop/trap music was another highlight as it gave the film a proper identity to associate the main character of the story.
Overall, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was dope I can confirm that my peeps it’s currently no3 on my favourite Spider-Man film!!!
