Much like with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) last year, I just had to see La La Land again to make sure that my opinion wasn't being clouded by anticipation and excitement and expectations. And it really wasn't.
I've always found good musicals to have a lot of rewatchability, and La La Land is no exception. Ever since my first viewing I've had the music and songs stuck in my head (and my Spotify), so it was a real joy to see it all play out once again. I also couldn't help but fall even deeper in love with Emma Stone - she is sheer perfection in this. Ryan Gosling is also great, and from the opening number it's clear that Damien Chazelle's direction is astounding. My only gripe, and it's a minor one, is that there's a bit of a stretch towards the end of the second Act which would have benefitted from a musical number.
But honestly this movie is really so damn wonderful.
