PERFECTION!!!!
maika monroe shines in her starring role, and is perfectly contrasted by nic cage’s absolutely psychotic performance as “Longlegs.”
i feel like most people’s problem with this movie was that it was falsely advertised and wasn’t “scary.”
first of all, this movie is terrifying, just because it doesn’t rely on jumpscares and loud noises doesn’t mean that it isn’t scary. the way every scene was shot left me on the edge of my seat, it’s always portrayed as thought a jump scare is about to happen, but it never really does. but for me, the anticipation for being scared was what really got me and it completely worked.
Longlegs has seen many comparisons to films such as “The Silence of the Lambs,” which i personally think is a great comparison. this movie focuses on the crime/mystery aspects more than the horror. some people weren’t fans of that, and that’s ok, but to me it was utter perfection. i personally loved the almost “Se7en” vibes that this gave, and i will be watching every future project from Osgood Perkins in the future because this project alone made me fall in love with this man’s mind and the way he crafts movies.
