Gladiator II 2024
Ridley Scott, my man, I knew you had it in you. Everyone and their mothers have said it, Gladiator II has some big shoes to fill and "lives in the shadow" of its predecessor story-wise - as if that's some bad shadow to live in! The original Gladiator was probably the first time I realized I had experienced a film, not simply watched a movie, therefore no complaints whatsoever as far as thematic ties go. The concepts this touches couldn't…

Megalopolis 2024
Massive outlier of a film, not even sure how to rate it properly, therefore going with average for now.
- Did I love it as a film? Nope.
- Did I love the like-the-old-times film experience it offered? Hell yes.
Sure, it barely scratches the surface of its concepts and only slightly explores the depths of its characters. Despite its drastic shifts, it's not the tone, but the visuals, that seemed uneven - the speed & ways this goes from looking great to looking ugly and vice versa is a case study of its own.

Thanks to Snyder, the…

Blade Runner 2049 2017
The sequel to Ridley Scott's sci-fi neo-noir classic that arrived 35 years after the initial release of its predecessor. Helmed by the masterful Denis Villeneuve, Blade Runner 2049 is not only one of the greatest follow-ups witnessed by mankind, but most importantly, a Blade Runner this generation can wholeheartedly experience and get behind.
The film is long and keeps its approach distant on purpose, a risky decision that thankfully works perfectly in such a cold world, with Ryan Gosling's fantastic…
